Website Checklist for 2024

December is always a scramble to get things done in my house. Christmas shopping, brainstorming ideas to create an impactful Christmas card, calligraphy projects, putting up lights and the tree (too busy this year), social activities – listening to a friend perform in a Christmas choir, dinner and social conversation on a 47′ boat in Vancouver’s False Creek, social invites, etc. All of this is why I look forward to the time between Christmas and the new year to – exhale. To relax and make time to do the things I really want to do and to reflect on the year I’m leaving behind while looking forward to what I the new year ahead.
I also get into cleanup and organization mode. The momentum starts when taking down the wreath on the door and the seasonal decor. I continue with cleaning and eliminating clutter. I also do the same thing on my website.
Here are some cleanup tasks that you may want to do on your site:
  1. Change the copyright year in your footer
  2. Check for broken links (I like this tool)
  3. Update any out of date blog posts
  4. Update your website legal documents, such as privacy policies. The requirements keep changing so if you haven’t updated it for a while you will want to look into this.
  5. Clean up your image library by eliminating unused or duplicate images

All the best for a great year ahead!

Laurie
