TYPE: Brand Identity, Logo Design, Web Design

The Challenge

To design a logo and website to clarify and define the client’s business in the market. Our focus was to move and delight while emphasizing the client’s dedication to quality of craftsmanship.

The Solution

We started by getting clear about the client’s market, his place in it and the type of clients they wanted to attract. Dang Dream Homes takes great pride on working to the highest standards, from the big picture to the smallest detail. We selected an architectural theme and organized the work in two ways – by project and by subject. We chose a neutral color palette of greys, black, white and red to define the brand and to set the tone with  the client’s high end market: architects and designers. Red is an auspicious symbolic colour in Chinese culture, so we used this as the key colour element to contrast against the neutral color scheme. We fulfilled the client’s request for showing a before and after photo of the project from the blueprint to the final result.

KAMAL’S DAY SPA

TYPE: Logo, Brand Strategy, Web Design, Print Media: Brochure, Gift Certificates, Business Cards

The Challenge

Our company was in competition with two other web design businesses for the job. However, the client followed her intuition and chose us to design her site. We did not disappoint.

THE LOGO

The client liked her logo until we presented her with a logo design which she liked. This logo became the pivotal point to the overall color theme of the site.

THE WEBSITE

A website update. The client requested three blog portals to differentiate the three areas of the business: Beauty Services, Energy Healing and Sexual Healing. We added an e-commerce element so the online viewer can make payments to services online.

The Solution

We converted the site to a WordPress theme then customized the design, beginning with a logo redesign. We chose the color red as the brand color as it resonated with the client’s preference and her business – the beauty industry.

Red is associated with the 1st chakra and is associated with meanings of love, lust, passion, desire sexuality, sensitivity, romance, joy, strength, leadership, courage, vigor, willpower, rage, anger, danger, stress, action, vibrance, radiance, and determination. It symbolizes action, confidence, and courage. It is linked to the most primitive physical, emotional, and financial needs of survival and self-preservation.

We went on location to shoot photos of the business from the location to the details inside the business to further elaborate the beauty services offered.

The site has three blog portals which the viewer can access from the homepage and the nav bar. Each portal is differentiated by color, making for easy navigation.

We installed a Booking plugin so clients can book appointments online using a credit card. They receive a confirmation note when their appointment is booked.

TYPE: Web Design, Branding, Identity, Business Cards, Brochure, Postcard, PowerPoint Presentation

The Challenge

Design a website using the client’s existing logo. To segment the site into different areas: Luxury Chauffeur, Bodyguard, Concierge, Security Concierge and Security Guard & Mobile Security Services. To unify these separate elements under one cohesive website.

Testimonial

“My website turned out just how I had envisioned and that is all thanks to Laurie working with me, open to my feedback along with her amazing experience and ideas. She really cared that I was nothing less than thrilled with the final product.”

KATI JENSEN, PRESIDENT

The Solution

We designed this site to showcase the the client’s array of services. We incorporated the existing logo with the diamond symbol as the brand essence of the business – the sparkle in an overall black + white color theme – and also to further the message of class and elegance. We added continuity in this theme with a diamond-studded upholstery pattern as a header on some pages to denote a sense of luxury.

We later came up with the tagline “A Cut Above” to tie in with their diamond logo and strengthen their brand message of elegance and rising above.

The Challenge

LOGO

To design a logo based on the client’s tattoo which had significant meaning and personal power for her.

WEBSITE

A website to promote a yoga, pilates and dance business. The site had to have an e-commerce and booking portal so her clients could view, book and buy classes online with a membership.

The Solution

This was an exciting and challenging project. We based the logo design on the client’s cherished tattoo, a symbol that reflected her love of dance and flow. It took many iterations of color to finally choose the right purple that answered to the client’s vision. The logo then became the pivotal point in the web design. We chose a theme that allowed the many classes, schedules and events to be displayed in a simple, easy to follow manner. The Call to Action on the homepage is the Introductory Offer for the new online viewer to try out a membership at an introductory rate.

We incorporated MindBody software to enable booking appointments, classes and scheduling. The Class Schedule page allows the viewer to book classes with specific dates and times. Clients can register and pay for their classes online. A bio of each instructor is also available for the client before signing up for a class.

Most photos were provided by the client which helped to uniquely brand and differentiate the site with the client’s own stamp and align with the client’s own business vision.

CENTURIA LANDSCAPES INC.

TYPE: Web Design

The Challenge

This project required a major site upgrade as the existing site had become outdated.

The Solution

The clients of this landscaping company wanted to keep their logo. We felt the color was dated so found a more contemporary color of green to base the color of the site. We chose an expansive slider as the main feature of the Homepage to allow the client’s photos of their work stand out and instantly sell their services. We used Essential Grid to further organize and group the projects into categories for clients who only wanted to see specific areas of their work. We used the Twenty20 plugin to show the Before and After effect of one of their projects.

VELVET PUMPKIN PRODUCTIONS

TYPE: Website Design

The Challenge

A update to an outdated website that provided a focus on the client’s creative work.

The Solution

We started the site design based on the overall color of orange in the logo. This color reflects the positive and creative nature of the client and sets her apart in her market. We chose with a WordPress parallax theme with an understated design added specific photos provided by the client that further differentiated her place in the market. The online viewer is immediately greeted by a delightful, playful video that is a testament to her work. We added the logos of the many awards she received below her testimonials to emphasize the calibre of her work.

BORU CARPENTRY & DESIGN

TYPE: Web Design, Logo Design, Branding, Brand Guide Book

The Challenge

The client was starting a carpentry & design business and needed both a logo and a website.

LOGO

To design a logo based on the Irish historical figure, King Boru.

WEBSITE

A site that showcased the variety of the client’s past projects.

Testimonial

“Earlier this year I hired Laurie to design a new website for me. Our teamwork was seamless. I’m getting a high volume of traffic and calls. My ROI is phenomenal. I attribute this to Laurie’s original graphics which creates interest and curiosity with the online viewer. She truly thinks Outside-the-Box!”

Kevin Burke, Owner| Finishing Carpenter

The Solution

LOGO

The client wanted a logo design based after the company name, BORU.  After researching the Irish king Boru, we created logo comps with crests. When we presented the logo concepts, one logo immediately stood out which had nothing to do with the Boru history. We added a badge seal to add credibility in the business which enriched the brand.

WEBSITE

The design team chose to use a Before and After photo gallery in order to communicate the overall sense of transformation that occurred by the end of the project. The client had a large photo library of separate projects which we organized into galleries to showcase the variety of work and to further differentiate the business in the market. We choose neutral colours of browns and taupe to resonate with the client’s market – architects, interior designers and homeowners.

ALPHA YAYA DIALLO

LINK: alphayayadiallo.com

TYPE: Web Design, Logo Design, Branding

The Challenge

WEBSITE

The client, Juno award-winning musician Alpha Yaya Diallo, needed a site in order to provide an online voice to his work as well as showcase and sell his albums. The site had to house the client’s media Press Kits and be bilingual as his tours extended into French-language spoken cities.

LOGO

To design a logo to reflect the client’s African roots and the music he played.

The Solution

LOGO

We started with the logo design to build the site’s anchor. We settled on an African pattern with a font that allowed the expression of the full name without resorting to an “african” cliche or overpowering the site.

WEBSITE

With a modest budget, we chose a WordPress music theme that answered the client’s needs – to portray the showmanship of this musician doing what he loves – playing music. The site’s biographical page can also be read in French. We included video clips showing his musical venues. The CDs are linked to his iTunes account so the viewer can buy his work online.

GRUNBERG PATTERSON CENTRE

LINK: grunbergpatterson.ca

TYPE: Web DesignBranding, Book Cover

The Challenge

The business owners, a Clinical Psychologist and Counsellor needed a fresh update to an existing website which had become outdated.

The Solution

The first design decision was to use the color green from their logo to design the site as it reflects well the nature of the business as well as the client’s personal values. Green symbolizes life, renewal, nature, calmness and energy and is associated with the meaning of growth, harmony, freshness, fertility, and the environment. The main draw on the site is the banner photo on the Homepage which reflects the client’s business – the people that come to them – an optimistic photo of a lone figure walking on a pathway with sun lighting the way.

There are 3 Call to Action buttons: sign up for the newsletter, buying their book and reading their blog. We set up links to sell their book through Friesen Press and Amazon. An email prompt was also created to collect the emails from viewers who sign up for the free workbook.
